Is there a golf course on Lombok? Where is it, and where should you stay to play it? Can you choose between several courses, as you can on Bali? These are the first questions when you try to fit a round of golf into a Lombok trip. Searching mostly turns up booking-site listings and old information.
In short: the only golf course on Lombok that we could confirm, through news reports, as hosting a tournament in 2026 is on the northwest coast. Older reports call it the Kosaido course, and reports since December 2025 call it Sira Beach Golf and Country Club (it appears to be the same course, but we found no official announcement of a name change). The other course, at Golong in the hills in the middle of the island, has been described in local news as “dormant”.
This article uses only information we could open and read: provincial and regency news, the state news agency Antara, local media, and the official blog of a nearby hotel. We could not open the course’s own website, so green fees are not given. It is written for people who want to play golf for a day or two during a Lombok trip, and for the people travelling with them.

In short
If you want to play golf on Lombok, the realistic choice is the coastal course at Sira in the northwest. It has 18 holes, par 72, and hosted the golf event of the provincial sports week in July 2026. It is about 40 minutes by car from Senggigi and about 50 minutes from Mataram. We could not confirm whether the Golong course is open, so contact it before you go (as of October 2026).
How many golf courses are there on Lombok?
Lombok has two 18-hole courses. A board member of the West Nusa Tenggara chapter of the Indonesian Golf Association (PGI) told the local outlet INSIDELOMBOK (July 2023) that the province has three courses that meet the standard: Sire in North Lombok, Golong in West Lombok, and Batu Hijau on the neighbouring island of Sumbawa. The first two are on Lombok.
The two courses differ a lot, both in setting and in condition. The Sira course is on the northwest coast and was still hosting tournaments in 2026. The Golong course is in the hills of Narmada district, east of the provincial capital Mataram, and reports of falling visitor numbers there go back to around 2016.
We could not find an operating golf course in Kuta Lombok (Mandalika) in the south, or in Sekotong in the southwest, where our village is. In practice, golf on Lombok means a day trip to the northwest, or a stay there.

What is the Sira course (Kosaido) like?
It is an 18-hole course along Sira beach in Tanjung district, North Lombok. The Bali magazine NOW Bali (December 2025 and May 2026) describes it as par 72 and 6,245 metres long, designed by Peter Thomson, Michael Wolveridge and Ross Perrett. Some holes run along the beach, some look out to the Gili islands, and others have Mount Rinjani behind them.
The name needs care. The local paper Suara NTB (April 2024) called the course at this location “Lombok Golf Kosaido Country Club”. Reports from December 2025 onwards use “Sira Beach Golf and Country Club”, and Antara (July 2026) also uses “Sire Beach Golf Club”. The address (Jalan Raya Tanjung, Sira) and the designers are the same, so it appears to be the same course, but we could not find an official announcement of the name change. Map apps and booking sites may still show the old name, so search for both.
According to Suara NTB (April 2024), facilities include a restaurant, club and shoe rental, and showers, and at the time the clubhouse was being expanded and a pool built. Players come from Lombok, from elsewhere in Indonesia such as Jakarta, Bali, Kalimantan and Sulawesi, and from abroad; the manager said numbers had been rising since around June 2023, after the pandemic.
From 17 to 22 July 2026, the course hosted the golf competition of the West Nusa Tenggara provincial sports week, Porprov (Antara, July 2026). The provincial golf association said the course quality and facilities were fully adequate for the event, and backed it as the golf venue for the 2028 national games (PON). As of 2026, it is a course kept in tournament condition.
Can you play the Golong course (GEC Rinjani) now?
We could not confirm it, so we suggest contacting the course before you go. It sits in the hills at Golong village, Narmada district, West Lombok. The local tour company Authentic Indonesia describes it as 18 holes, about 500 metres above sea level and about 20 km from Mataram.
The news reports are not encouraging. Radar Lombok (September 2016) quoted the operator as saying the course had been quiet for five years and could not pay its property tax. Lombok Post (July 2025) described it as “mati suri” (dormant) and reported that the village was asking the province to take over its management. Suara NTB (August 2025) quoted the village head as saying visitor numbers had fallen sharply, upkeep was poor and the access road was in bad condition.
On the other hand, in July 2023 the provincial golf association still counted Golong among the courses that meet the standard, with about 30 caddies. Suara NTB in May 2026 also reported the village’s call to revive the course, not a closure. Even if the course still exists, whether a visitor can simply book and play is another matter. If you plan to go, ask your hotel or driver to confirm it is open that day.
Where should you stay, and how do you get there?
If golf is the focus, staying in the northwest makes things easier. Suara NTB (April 2024) gives about 40 minutes to the Sira course from Senggigi and about 50 minutes from Mataram, and says most players stay at hotels in North Lombok, Senggigi or Mataram. Some stay in the Mandalika area in the south, but that is about two hours each way.
You can also stay right by the course. NOW Bali (December 2025) reported the opening of HOUSE Sira Lombok, a hotel on the same grounds as the course, with 35-square-metre rooms. In May 2026 the same magazine described a package combining one night with one round of golf (no price is given). We could not check the hotel’s official website, so confirm that it is open and what is included before you book. The North Lombok hotel Tugu Lombok says on its official blog (November 2025) that it is less than five minutes from the course and that its concierge can arrange transport and tee times.
You will need a car. Authentic Indonesia notes that no public transport runs to the golf courses, so you need to hire one. Ways to hire a car with a driver for the day are covered in our guide to getting around Lombok. For choosing between Senggigi and Mataram as a base, see Senggigi vs. Mataram.
Figure: Driving time to the Sira course from where you stay
Sira is in North Lombok, the same regency as Bangsal Port, where boats leave for the three Gili islands. If you are combining golf with a Gili stay, the drive from the airport heads to the same northwest corner (see our Bangsal Port guide). However, we could not confirm the total boat and car time from the Gilis to the course.
How do fees, booking and equipment work?
Green fees, caddie fees and cart charges are not given here, because we could not check them on an official website. Booking sites sometimes show prices, but they may still use the old name and may not match current rates. Book directly with the course or through your hotel, and check the following.
- ✓Whether the price includes a caddie, a cart and rental clubs
- ✓The usual tip for a caddie
- ✓Whether payment is cash only or cards are accepted
- ✓Whether a tournament or private booking falls on your date
- ✓The dress code (collared shirts and so on)
- ✓Whether they can arrange transport from where you stay
On caddies, the provincial golf association board member told INSIDELOMBOK (July 2023) that Sira has about 60 and Golong about 30, which is not enough during tournaments. The same article notes that caddies in Indonesia are mostly women and cost less than in Malaysia, one reason golfers come from Malaysia.
Clubs can be rented at the Sira course (Suara NTB, April 2024). If you bring your own, many routes to Lombok involve a domestic connection in Bali or Jakarta, so check golf bag rules and excess baggage charges with every airline on your itinerary.
When should you go?
Lombok’s dry season runs from April to October and the rainy season from November to March. The drier months make it easier to play as planned. In the rainy season, rain can upset your plans, and the long drive to the northwest is harder to predict. Month-by-month weather is in our guide to Lombok’s seasons.
The sun is strong all year, so an early tee time makes the heat easier to handle. Bring a hat, sunscreen and plenty of water. During tournaments, such as the provincial event in July 2026, ordinary bookings may be harder to get.
What can non-golfers do?
The Sira course faces the sea, and NOW Bali says the clubhouse has direct access to the beach. The hotel at the course is also described as having a pool. Companions who do not play can spend the time on the beach or at the hotel.
The northwest is close to the gateway to the Gili islands, so you can plan a crossing before or after your round. Splitting your nights between the Gilis and the main island, and staying on the main island on golf days, saves you from being tied to boat times. For ideas on how to arrange the days, see our Lombok model itineraries.
A note from Sekotong
On Lombok, names and opening status in map apps do not always match reality, and golf courses are no exception. Ask your hotel or driver to call or message the course the day before, to confirm that you can play and what your tee time is. Friday midday is the time for Islamic prayers, when traffic and shops can change their usual pattern, so leave extra time for the drive.
The drawbacks of golf on Lombok, and who it suits
Lombok is not an island you choose for golf. There is one course you can realistically use, in the northwest, so it does not suit a trip playing a different course each day. Fees and booking details are also hard to find in official form, and you will need to contact the course directly. If you want to play several courses, another destination will suit you better.
On the other hand, if you want a day or two on an uncrowded course with views of the sea and the mountain, and the rest of your time by the sea, golf fits into a Lombok trip easily. If golf is the focus, stay in the northwest; if you want separate quiet days by the sea, you can also move to the southwest of the island.
We are Semelar Beach Village. In a fishing village in Sekotong, in southwest Lombok, we run a beach cafe (SAKURA CAFE, 10:00 to 22:00, closed Mondays), a market and a beach club together with local Sasak people. The village is about 1 hour 10 minutes by car from Lombok International Airport and about 40 minutes from Lembar Port. It is far from the golf course, so plan golf days separately.
Our 13 private villas are under construction, and the first is due to be completed in early 2027 (plan as of August 2026). What you can book now is a stay programme of 3 nights to 5 nights (Rp4,800,000 per person, about US$270, including airport transfers, transport during the stay, a guide, a welcome dinner and a massage; flights and accommodation are not included). A bamboo restaurant is due to open on 7 November 2026, and kayaking is due to start the same day.
Frequently asked questions
Q. Are Lombok Golf Kosaido and Sira Beach Golf the same course?
The address and designers in news reports are the same, so they appear to be the same course. We could not find an official announcement of the name change, though. Search booking sites and map apps under both names.
Q. Can I go straight from the airport to the course?
You can drive there, but we could not confirm the time from the airport to the Sira course. The airport is in south-central Lombok and the course in the northwest. Playing after a night in the northwest is more comfortable than playing on the day you land.
Q. Can I play just nine holes?
Sira is an 18-hole course. We could not confirm whether nine-hole rounds are offered or what they cost. Ask when you book.
Q. Is a day trip possible from Kuta Lombok (Mandalika)?
Yes, but it is about two hours each way (Suara NTB, April 2024). Leave early and plan to be back before dark. For the south of the island, see our Kuta Lombok (Mandalika) guide.
Q. Can I play golf while staying in Sekotong?
You can drive there, but it is a long trip through Mataram from the southwest to the northwest of the island, and we could not confirm the time. It is easier to stay in the northwest on golf days and keep your Sekotong days separate.
Summary
Lombok has two 18-hole golf courses, and the only one we could confirm as hosting a tournament in 2026 is the coastal course at Sira in the northwest, also listed as Kosaido. It is par 72 and 6,245 metres long, about 40 minutes by car from Senggigi and about 50 minutes from Mataram. The Golong course has been reported as dormant, and we could not confirm whether it is open (as of October 2026).
We could not confirm fees in official form, so ask the course or your hotel directly when you book: whether a caddie, cart and rental clubs are included, how to pay, and whether a tournament is on. Staying in the northwest on golf days and playing on a dry-season morning is the easiest plan.
