    About the villas

    The villas at a glance

Thirteen private villas set inside Sekotong’s fishing village. The first villa is due to be completed in early 2027 (plan as of August 2026), and all thirteen are due to open in stages during 2027–2028. They sit right behind the market (SEMELAR MARKET), a one-minute walk from the beach.

This isn’t an “untouched hideaway where there’s nothing”. In the morning, boats head out from the beach; at midday, oysters are opened on the pearl rafts; in the evening, there’s a seat for you at the village table. There’s more sea, more village and more to do than you might expect. But it isn’t convenient. This page tells you both, up front.

    The construction site in Sekotong
    Under construction

The villas stand right behind the village market (SEMELAR MARKET). Thirteen in all. The first villa is due to be completed in early 2027, and the rest open in stages through 2028. Close the door and it’s quiet; open it and the market and the beach are right there.

Get notified when the villas open

We’ll email you once, when villa bookings open. Your email address is used only for that notice.

      Stay programme

      Stay programme (3 nights/4 days to 5 nights/6 days)

The stay programme is put together around the number of nights you have. Our staff make the arrangements with the boatmen, the pearl farmers, the warungs and the people in the fields. It isn’t a fixed course: once you arrive, we rework it around the weather and how you’re feeling.

      1. 3 nights

        Just the sea.

One island-hopping trip around the southern Gilis, snorkelling, two meals at the village table, airport transfers. Good for a first visit. To be honest, with only three nights the cost of getting here weighs heavily.

      2. 7 nights

        Get used to the village.

Two island trips, a visit to the pearl farm, a day in the fields, lunch at a warung, and one day with nothing planned. A “do-nothing day” only fits in from seven nights. This is the most common length.

      3. 14 nights

        Live alongside the village.

Shopping at the market, a morning fishing with a boatman, a visit to a Sasak village, a trip to the southern beaches. Conversations about long stays or a second base often start at this length.

NowThe stay programme you can book

Until the villas open, we run a private 3-night/4-day (up to 5-night/6-day) programme: you stay at accommodation outside the village and explore Sekotong. It isn’t a tour for sale; it’s a stay for understanding the island in your own way. Dates are set together with you.

      Before you book

What we’d like you to know before booking

There’s no quick way here: you fly into Lombok, often via Bali or Jakarta, then drive about 1 hr 10 min. November to March is the rainy season, and when it rains, it really rains. There are no convenience stores and no nightlife. Wi-Fi is slow on some days. There are insects. There are power cuts.

And yet: nobody on the beach in the morning, a boatman who remembers your name, a seat at the village table in the evening. If that’s the week you’re looking for, this is the place.

      FAQ
      When can I stay?
The first villa is due to be completed in early 2027 (plan as of August 2026). Once the date is confirmed, we’ll publish it on this page and in our news. If you sign up for the opening notice, we’ll email you when bookings open.
      Is it suitable for children?
Some of the sea is shallow a long way out, but children must always wear a life jacket. For medical care, you need to drive to the island’s towns. More in our travel guides.
I don’t speak Indonesian. Is that a problem?
Our staff are at the base. They help you with conversations with the boatmen and the warungs.
Is it worth going in the rainy season?
When it rains, it really rains. But rather than raining all day, it more often pours in the afternoon and clears by night. Some days the sea gets cloudy. Prices are lower. More in our travel guides.
Can I work while I stay?
The connection is slow on some days, and there are power cuts. It isn’t a good fit for work with deadlines. More in our travel guides.
Can I stay on my own?
Yes. With the boatmen and the village table, you won’t feel too alone.
      What about meals?
Meals are mainly at the village table and warungs. There’s no pork. Ask, and they’ll go easy on the chilli. Please tell us about any allergies in advance.
      Can I drink alcohol?
It’s a Muslim village, so alcohol isn’t sold in the village. Please ask us about the arrangements at the base.
