Sekotong & the South Gilis
The quiet sea and islands of southwest Lombok, from one page
What are Sekotong and the South Gilis like?
Sekotong is in the southwest of Lombok, about 60km by road or 1 hour 10 minutes by car from Lombok International Airport. Offshore lie the South Gilis, also called the Secret Gilis, a scattering of small islands much quieter than the northern Gilis (Sekotong complete guide). From Lembar Port, where the public ferry from Bali arrives, it is about 40 minutes by car (Bali to Sekotong).
Island-hopping boats mostly leave from harbours around Tawun, and booking through your accommodation a day or more ahead is the most reliable way (Sekotong boat charter).
A schematic of the South Gilis. Boats leave from harbours around Tawun, and a half-day trip usually takes in three islands.
