Bali and Lombok

How are Bali and Lombok different, and how do you travel between them?

Lombok sits just east of Bali across the Lombok Strait. Bali is mostly Hindu, while around 90% of Lombok’s people are Sasak and most are Muslim. Choose Bali if convenience and plenty of choice matter most, and Lombok if you want to avoid crowds and are after a quiet sea and simple culture (Bali or Lombok?).

Between them you can fly (about 25 to 50 minutes in the air), take a fast boat (about 1.5 to 5 hours) or the public ferry from Padang Bai to Lembar (about 4 to 6 hours) (Bali to Lombok).
