What kind of accommodation is there in Sekotong, and is there anywhere to stay at all? That’s usually the first question that comes up once you start looking into a trip to Sekotong, in southwest Lombok.
The short answer: Sekotong has four broad types of accommodation — resorts and villas built along the mainland shore, lodgings on nearby islands such as Gili Gede, village homestays, and privately run villas you rent for a stay. This article introduces only the properties we could actually verify on their own official websites, organized around location, room types, and facilities rather than price.
Every property mentioned here is one we could confirm details for on its own official site. We haven’t included places whose only information is on booking sites, or prices and figures we couldn’t verify. In fact, most official sites don’t publish specific room rates at all — you generally need to check a booking site or inquire directly. We also couldn’t find an official site for any village homestay, so this article doesn’t cover that type in detail.
This is written for people actively looking for somewhere to stay in Sekotong, Lombok, and for anyone torn between a mainland resort and an island lodging.
As of September 2026
What this article covers
- ✓The four broad types of accommodation in Sekotong (mainland resorts/villas, island lodgings, village homestays, private villas)
- ✓Location, room types, and facilities of mainland properties confirmed via official sites
- ✓Lodgings on nearby islands like Gili Gede, and roughly how to get there
- ✓How to think about budget, meals, and transport when choosing a place to stay
- ✓Which of these types our own villa falls into
Bottom line
As far as we could confirm on official sites as of September 2026, Sekotong’s mainland side has resorts and villas, and nearby islands such as Gili Gede have several lodgings of their own. Because almost none of them publish specific room rates on their official site, it’s more realistic to narrow things down by mainland vs. island, room type, and how easy meals and transport are, rather than by comparing prices. Village-homestay accommodation exists too, but we couldn’t find an official site that lets us confirm the details.
What does staying in Sekotong actually mean?
Sekotong is the region covering southwest Lombok — as our Sekotong complete guide covers, it’s a stretch of fishing-village coastline that hasn’t been developed for tourism. There’s no bustling strip like Senggigi or Kuta Lombok, but that also makes it quiet, and it serves as a base for the islands known as the South Gilis — Gili Gede, Gili Nanggu, and others.
As for travel time from Lombok International Airport, Cocotinos Sekotong — one of the mainland properties — states on its official site that it’s “about 75 minutes by car from the airport,” via the road along Lembar Port. That works out to roughly 1 hour 10 minutes to 1 hour 15 minutes, a useful benchmark for reaching accommodation in the Sekotong area.
Sekotong accommodation falls into four broad types
Places to stay in Sekotong break down into four broad types. The first is resorts and villas built along the mainland coast, generally reached by car. The second is lodging on nearby islands such as Gili Gede, which assumes travel by boat. The third is village homestays, said to be an option for budget-conscious travelers, though at the time of our research we couldn’t find any with an official website. The fourth is privately run villas, rented according to group size and length of stay.
As an example of the fourth type, a YouTube video from our team (published August 2025) featured a hilltop, whole-villa rental run by another operator. The rate was US$300 per villa per night, with no short-term rentals — a minimum one-week long-stay only — and each villa had its own kitchen for self-catering (video).

Where to stay on the mainland
Here are two mainland properties we could confirm on their official sites. Both sit along the coast of mainland Lombok and are reached by car.

| Property | Location | Room types | Key facilities |
|---|---|---|---|
| Cocotinos Sekotong | Sekotong Barat (mainland, west Sekotong) | Garden rooms, terrace rooms, waterfront plunge-pool villas, 1–2 bedroom villas | Restaurant, pool, spa, 300m+ white-sand beach |
| The Club Villas Lombok | Sekotong Tengah (mainland, central Sekotong, beachfront facing Gili Gede) | Suites (lumbung-style), 1–2 bedroom villas with private pool | Restaurant, fitness center, gardens, 24-hour front desk |

Cocotinos Sekotong is a resort facing a bay in west Sekotong, with a restaurant called Ela Ela Restaurant, a pool, a spa, and diving and snorkeling services. The Club Villas Lombok sits on the coast of central Sekotong, with Gili Gede visible across the water. It’s mostly villas with private pools, plus a fitness center and gardens. Neither property’s official site lists room rates — you’ll need to check a booking site or inquire directly.
There’s also a mainland property called Sundancer Resort. In a YouTube video from our team (published November 2025), Hiroki Nakamura, who runs a business in Sekotong, said the resort gets quite crowded during the July–August high season, and calms down for a more relaxed stay once the rainy season sets in around October. Breakfast is free for guests — buffet-style in high season, and made-to-order the rest of the year (video).
Where to stay on islands such as Gili Gede
Off the coast of Sekotong lie the islands known as the South Gilis, and one of them, Gili Gede, has several lodgings. Here are four we could confirm via official sites.
← You can scroll the table sideways
| Property | Room types | Key facilities |
|---|---|---|
| Kokomo Gili Gede | 1–2 bedroom pool villas, beachfront/hilltop “Villa Kecil” and more | Beachfront restaurant, resort spa, fitness gym, beachfront pool, tennis court |
| Thamarind Resort Gili Gede | Beachfront bungalows, traditional-style lumbung huts, 14 rooms total | Beachfront restaurant, kayaks/paddleboards, PADI-certified dive center |
| The High Dive | Beachfront villas, beachfront bungalows | Beachfront restaurant, beach bar, PADI-certified dive center |
| The Papalagi Resort | Lumbung bungalows, standard rooms | No detailed facility information on the official site |
*As confirmed on each operator’s official site as of September 2026. Rates aren’t listed here because they aren’t published on the official sites.
How to reach the island varies by property. Thamarind Resort Gili Gede’s official site lists driving to Tembowong Port and taking a taxi boat for about 10 minutes (around Rp35,000, roughly US$2), a resort transfer (by car and boat), or a fast boat from Bali’s Serangan Port or Nusa Penida’s Buyuk Port (Rp900,000–975,000, roughly US$50–55, taking about 2 hours). The other three properties don’t specify access methods on their official sites, so you’ll need to confirm when booking.

How to choose a place to stay
If you want to narrow things down by budget, most official sites don’t list prices, so the realistic approach is to shortlist a few candidates first, then check rates via a booking site or by contacting the property directly. It’s not safe to guess a price range just from how a website looks.
Whether to go mainland or island comes down to how much travel hassle you’re willing to trade for quiet. Mainland properties are reached directly by car, so you don’t have to worry about a boat being cancelled due to weather. Island lodgings such as those on Gili Gede, being cut off from the mainland, are even quieter, and your stay revolves around what’s on the island itself.
Securing meals is also worth factoring in. Sekotong and the nearby islands don’t have many restaurant options. Choosing a property with its own restaurant, or checking whether a meal plan is available, before you book will save you trouble during your stay.
For transport, we’d recommend confirming at booking time whether a mainland property offers airport or port transfers, and, for an island property, how boat transport is arranged — whether the property arranges it or you make your own way to the port.
Our own villa is one of these types too
Semelar Beach Village is a private villa on the shore of a fishing village in Sekotong, southwest Lombok, and falls under the mainland-property type. It’s about 1 hour 10 minutes by car from Lombok International Airport, and our staff help guests during their stay. Our stay programs run 3 nights/4 days to 5 nights/6 days for Rp4,800,000, and Sakura Cafe on the beach is open 10am–10pm, closed Mondays.
The first villa is scheduled to be completed in early 2027 (per the plan as of August 2026), with all 13 villas opening in stages through 2027 and 2028. A restaurant and a kayak fleet (seven boats) are scheduled to launch in November 2026. As with the other properties in this article, some of this describes plans that haven’t opened yet as of this writing, so check our official site for the latest.
A note from our team on the ground in Sekotong
When booking a property in Sekotong or on a nearby island, it’s worth confirming upfront whether meals are included in the rate. The village and Gili Gede have few restaurant options, and if you pick a property without one, you may need to travel every time you eat. Also, the pin locations for properties in this area on Google Maps sometimes don’t match the actual entrance, so after booking, confirm the exact location and how you’ll get there on the day (transfer or not, car or boat) directly with the property — it’ll save you a headache on arrival day.
Beyond choosing where to stay, there’s a place called Sekotong
Honestly, choosing where to stay in Sekotong isn’t especially convenient. There aren’t a huge number of properties overall, prices generally aren’t listed on official sites so comparison is hard, there’s almost nowhere to go out at night, island lodgings depend on boat travel that’s at the mercy of the weather, and there are few restaurant options nearby — these are drawbacks worth knowing about upfront.
Even so, beyond that inconvenience lies a fishing-village coastline that hasn’t been developed for tourism, and the quiet South Gili islands. For anyone who’d rather prioritize quiet and closeness to the sea than a wide selection or easy price comparison, staying in Sekotong is a good fit. If, on the other hand, you care more about variety of accommodation, a range of activities, and being able to compare prices easily, you’ll be better off staying in an area like Senggigi or Kuta Lombok.
Frequently asked questions
Q. Can I book Sekotong accommodation through booking sites?
Most of the properties in this article are listed on major booking sites as well as their own official site. Prices and availability change constantly, though, so we haven’t covered them here — we’d recommend checking a booking site or contacting the property directly.
Q. How do I get to island lodgings like Gili Gede’s?
You can use a resort transfer (including car and boat) or make your own way to the port and take a taxi boat. Thamarind Resort Gili Gede’s guidance describes about a 10-minute taxi boat ride from Tembowong Port. Guidance varies by property, so confirm the access method at booking time.
Q. Roughly how much does it cost to stay in Sekotong?
None of the properties in this article publish room rates on their official sites, so we couldn’t confirm exact figures. For reference, in a YouTube video from our team (published July 2026), Hiroki Nakamura, who runs a business in Sekotong, said foreigner-oriented lodging tends to run roughly Rp1,100,000 (about US$62) per night — comparable to Kuta, and relatively high within Lombok. He noted that a decent hotel in Mataram can be had for around Rp300,000–400,000 (about US$17–22), meaning Sekotong’s average nightly rate runs more than double that. He also said there are around 20 properties within a 10-minute radius of our beach (about 30 counting smaller ones), a number that has grown sharply in recent years (video). For exact rates, check a booking site or contact the property directly.
Q. What should I do about meals?
Most of the properties in this article have their own restaurant. Since there aren’t many restaurant options nearby, it’s worth confirming before you book whether a property has a restaurant or whether a meal plan is available.
Summary
Accommodation in Sekotong breaks down into four types: mainland resorts and villas, island lodgings such as those on Gili Gede, village homestays, and private villas. We could confirm details on official sites for six properties in total — two on the mainland and four on the islands — and none of them published specific room rates.
Rather than comparing prices, it’s more realistic to narrow your choice down by mainland vs. island, room type, how easy meals are to arrange, and ease of transport. Island lodgings depend on boat travel, so it’s worth factoring in the effect of weather too.
Accommodation details change easily as properties open or renovate, so always confirm the latest room types, rates, and access methods on each property’s official site or a booking site before you book.
