Arriving at Lombok Airport Late at Night: Taxis, Transfers, Airport Hotels and Going on to Sekotong

If you land at Lombok International Airport late at night, taxis still wait at the airport as long as flights are arriving. But the airport’s shops and money changers generally close around 23:00, and the DAMRI airport buses stop around 22:00. Sekotong is about 1 hour 10 minutes by car, so you have two choices: book a car to meet you and go that night, or, if you have no pickup, stay at a hotel about six minutes from the airport and head on in the morning.

For this guide we read Sleeping in Airports, a site covering airport facilities, the route guide Gecko Routes, an airport transfer booking site and hotel booking sites in October 2026, and turned them into steps for a late arrival. Opening hours and prices change, so sources and dates are given.

This guide is for anyone whose connection from Jakarta, Bali, Kuala Lumpur or elsewhere lands on Lombok at night.

What is open at the airport at night: shops, money changers and ATMs

According to Sleeping in Airports (updated 10 March 2026), the passenger terminal appears to operate 24 hours, but official hours for the areas travellers can use overnight could not be confirmed. Shops run roughly 5:00 to 23:00, including the Alfamart and Indomaret convenience stores in arrivals, and no 24-hour food outlets were confirmed.

There are two money changers in arrivals, open 5:00 to 23:00, and BNI and BRI bank counters. ATMs are in the public hall, and fees may apply. If you land after 23:00 the money changers will probably be closed, so get rupiah at your connecting airport or carry a card that works in ATMs.

Spending the night inside the airport is not recommended. The same site says there are no sleeping or rest areas and includes a traveller’s report of mosquitoes in the terminal.

Take care

  • Shops and money changers close around 23:00. After that, use an ATM
  • There is nowhere to sleep at the airport. Book a nearby hotel if you need to stay
  • If you have not booked a pickup, decide before you land

Taxis, ride-hailing and buses at night

The route guide Gecko Routes (updated 3 June 2026) says taxis operate at the airport all day as long as there are arriving flights. Metered taxis wait on the right side outside arrivals, and the guide advises making sure the meter is on. There is also a fixed-price taxi counter inside arrivals, with fares similar to metered taxis plus an airport fee of Rp17,500.

Grab and Gojek were once banned from airport pickups but can now be booked from a designated pickup point shown in the app. The same guide warns that there is still a strong taxi mafia at the airport and that some people may claim ride-hailing pickups are not allowed.

DAMRI buses from the airport run hourly to Mataram from 8:00 to 22:00, to Senggigi from 9:00 to 18:00 and to Bangsal from 9:00 to 16:00, according to Gecko Routes. Sleeping in Airports gives 7:00 to 22:00 for buses to Mataram, Ampenan, Senggigi and Selong, so the sources differ slightly. Either way, they do not run late at night, and there is no bus to Sekotong.

Going to Sekotong that night: book a car in advance

Sekotong is about 1 hour 10 minutes by car from the airport. The road distance is about 60 km, and the transfer booking site mytransfers shows 59.27 km. If you plan to go straight to Sekotong after a late landing, booking a car in advance is more reliable than looking for one at the airport.

Gecko Routes notes that airport transfers can be booked on Klook or Traveloka, with the driver waiting at the airport so you skip the taxi queue. mytransfers also offers transfers where the driver waits with a name sign. The same site says vehicles for more than four people or large luggage are rare at Lombok Airport, so book early for bigger groups.

Flights can be late, so give your flight number when booking and check whether the driver will wait and whether extra charges apply. If your accommodation arranges pickups, confirm before your travel day that they can meet a late arrival.

Staying near the airport and going on in the morning

If you have not booked a pickup, are landing very late, or are tired after a long connection, you can stay near the airport and head to Sekotong the next morning.

On hotel booking sites, Swiss-Belcourt Lombok appears as the closest hotel to the airport. Travelocity puts it about 1.7 miles away, about a 6-minute drive, with a 24-hour front desk and check-in from 14:00 with no end time. The airport shuttle costs extra: IDR 60,000 per vehicle one way (up to two people), at scheduled times from 8:00 to midnight. On 31 October 2026, rates for one night for two on 7 November started at US$25.

The Hotels.com list of hotels near the airport also includes ILLIRA Lite Praya Lombok, about 1.7 miles away, where a reviewer mentioned using a shuttle. Most other hotels on the list are around Kuta Lombok, about 8 to 10 miles from the airport.

Figure: Deciding what to do on a late arrival at Lombok Airport

1 Check your arrival time After 22:00 there are no buses; shops and exchange close around 23:00 2 Have you booked a pickup? If so, head to Sekotong that night (about 1 hr 10 min) 3 If not Book a hotel near the airport for the night 4 Get rupiah At your connecting airport, or from an ATM on arrival Next morning, in daylight, on to Sekotong By hotel shuttle, taxi or ride-hailing

If you are coming to Semelar Beach Village

Semelar Beach Village is in a fishing village in Sekotong, about 1 hour 10 minutes by car from the airport, and the stay programme includes airport transfers. If your flight lands at night, give your arrival time when you apply and discuss whether to come that night or stay near the airport and come the next morning.

The stay programme runs from 3 nights/4 days to 5 nights/6 days at Rp4,800,000 per person, including airport transfers, local transport, a guide, a welcome dinner and a massage; flights and accommodation are separate. Where you can stay is on our Stay page, what you can do in the village on Things to Do, the beach cafe on SAKURA CAFE, and the route from the airport on Getting Here.

  • ✓Your arrival time, and the latest time if your connection is delayed
  • ✓Have you booked either a pickup or a hotel near the airport?
  • ✓Have you given the driver your flight number and checked the delay policy?
  • ✓Rupiah cash for the night, or a card that works in ATMs
  • ✓Insect repellent (travellers report mosquitoes in the terminal)

A note from Sekotong

The airport itself is covered in our Lombok Airport arrival guide, and the daytime route and fares to Sekotong in Lombok Airport to Sekotong. For money exchange and ATMs, see our guide to money on Lombok.

Downsides, and who a late arrival suits

The downsides first. On a late arrival, money changers and shops are closed and there are no buses, so your options that night are limited. There is nowhere to rest inside the airport, and unless you arrange a pickup or hotel in advance you may be scrambling on arrival. We found no source on night-time road safety, so it is not covered here.

Sometimes a late flight is the only option for a connection. If you can book a pickup in advance, or are happy to spend a night near the airport and move on calmly in the morning, a late arrival need not be a problem.
