Australia to Lombok: Direct Flights, Connecting in Bali and Flight Times from Perth and Sydney

As of November 2026 there are no direct flights from Australia to Lombok. The only international destinations with direct flights from Lombok International Airport are Kuala Lumpur and Singapore (flightconnections). From Australia, the usual route is to fly to Denpasar in Bali and connect to a domestic flight or a boat. Perth to Bali takes about 3 hours 55 minutes, and Bali to Lombok about 45 to 50 minutes.

TransNusa’s plan to launch a Darwin to Lombok route in February or March 2026 was reported, but the route does not appear in November’s flight listings. For this guide we read the flight data sites flightconnections and directflightsfrom, a travel article by Remitly, Australian news reports and reports on transfers at Bali’s airport on 5 November 2026, and set out how to plan the connection.

This guide is for people living in Australia who are thinking of Lombok or Sekotong, and for travellers adding Lombok to a Bali trip.

Are there direct flights from Australia to Lombok?

flightconnections lists 13 destinations with direct flights from Lombok International Airport. The only international ones are Kuala Lumpur (AirAsia, Batik Air, Lion Air) and Singapore (Scoot). No Australian city appears as a direct or one-stop destination (updated November 2026).

A report on 22 January 2026 (SEAsia) said Indonesia’s TransNusa planned to start a Darwin to Lombok route in late February or early March 2026. Karryon wrote that four flights a week were planned on the 95-seat Comac C909, which was not yet certified to fly in Australia. The Bali Sun (24 February) reported that the provincial governor expected the route to open that month and was also pursuing a Perth service. The route is not in November’s flight listings, and we could not confirm what happened afterwards from the sources we opened.

Take care

  • The Darwin to Lombok route has only been reported as a plan and is not in the November 2026 flight listings
  • For any new route, check the flights in the airline’s own booking system before planning around it

Flight times and airlines to Bali by city

Remitly’s travel article (updated December 2025) gives direct flight times to Bali of about 3 hours from Darwin, 3.5 to 4 hours from Perth, about 5 hours from Adelaide, about 6 hours from Melbourne and Brisbane, and about 6.5 hours from Sydney. Airlines listed are Virgin Australia and Indonesia AirAsia from Darwin; Jetstar, Batik Air, Indonesia AirAsia and TransNusa from Perth; and Jetstar, Qantas, Virgin Australia, Batik Air and Garuda Indonesia from Sydney and Melbourne.

On flightconnections, Perth to Denpasar has about 80 flights a week (November 2026) taking about 3 hours 55 minutes. On directflightsfrom, Sydney to Denpasar takes about 6 hours 30 minutes, with five airlines: Garuda, Jetstar, Batik Air Malaysia, Qantas and Virgin Australia (updated May 2026). Perth and Lombok are both on UTC+8, so there is no time difference.

How much time to allow for a connection in Bali

At Ngurah Rai airport in Bali, the international and domestic terminals are separate buildings. The transfer guide layoverindex (reviewed May 2026) recommends treating an international to domestic connection as a 90-minute job at minimum, even on a single ticket with bags checked through. On separate tickets you collect your bags, take them to the other building and check in again, so it advises allowing 2.5 to 3 hours.

On 17 August 2026 a transfer walkway linking the international and domestic buildings opened. According to The Bali Live (19 August), the airport projects about 15 minutes for passengers and about 45 minutes for bags, but these are pre-opening simulations, and at first only transfer passengers on certain airlines can use it.

Bali to Lombok: fly or take a boat?

On flightconnections, TransNusa and Wings Air fly from Denpasar to Lombok 83 times a week (November 2026, about 12 a day), taking about 50 minutes. If you are connecting without staying a night in Bali, this domestic flight is the fastest option.

By sea, the public ferry from Padang Bai in east Bali to Lembar takes about 4 to 6 hours, and fast boats run from Bali to Gili Gede off Sekotong. Times and prices for each route are in Bali to Sekotong, and a comparison of all routes in Bali to Lombok: all routes.

Entry formalities and Bali’s tourist levy

Australian regional newspapers (26 December 2025, updated 7 January 2026) describe the entry rules for Australians: submit the All Indonesia arrival card before arriving, apply for the electronic visa on arrival (e-VOA) at least 72 hours before arrival, and pay Rp500,000 for either the e-VOA or the visa on arrival. In Bali, a separate tourist levy of Rp150,000 per person also applies.

We could not confirm from the sources we opened whether the levy applies if you only connect through Bali without leaving the airport. Check the official Indonesian immigration and Bali levy sites before you travel.

From the airport to Sekotong, with an example day

Sekotong is about 1 hour 10 minutes by car from Lombok International Airport. From Perth, a morning flight to Bali and an early-afternoon domestic flight to Lombok gets you to Sekotong by the evening. If you arrive in Bali at night from an eastern city, staying a night in Bali and crossing to Lombok the next morning is more relaxed.

You can also connect in Singapore or Kuala Lumpur and fly straight into Lombok; see Singapore and Kuala Lumpur to Lombok. Getting from the airport, with prices, is in Lombok airport to Sekotong.

Figure: Perth to Sekotong in one day

1 Morning: Perth to Bali About 3 hr 55 min, no time difference 2 Connect to a domestic flight in Bali 90 min or more on one ticket, 2.5 to 3 hours on separate tickets 3 Bali to Lombok About 45 to 50 min 4 Car from the airport to Sekotong About 1 hr 10 min If you land in Bali at night from an eastern city Stay a night in Bali and cross to Lombok next morning

A note from Sekotong

If you are coming from Australia, think about your bags on the day you connect in Bali. On separate tickets, you collect your checked bags in Bali and check them in again. When you book a transfer, giving the flight number and arrival time for Lombok makes it easier for the driver to adjust if you are delayed.

Downsides, and who a trip from Australia suits

The downsides first. With no direct flights, every city needs a connection in Bali or elsewhere, and from the eastern cities you may not reach Sekotong in one day. Connections on separate tickets take time, and what happens if a flight is delayed depends on the airline. The planned Darwin route is not in the flight listings as of November 2026.

Even so, from Perth or Darwin, with Bali 3 to 4 hours away, you can arrive the same day if the flight times suit, so it suits people who want a quiet coastal stay away from crowded Bali. Semelar Beach Village’s stay programme runs from 3 nights and 4 days to 5 nights and 6 days at Rp4,800,000 per person, including airport transfers, transport, a guide, a welcome dinner and a massage (flights and accommodation are separate). The beach cafe SAKURA CAFE is open 10:00 to 22:00 (closed Mondays), and the bamboo restaurant is scheduled to open on 7 November 2026. Directions from the airport are on Getting here.
