Hiroki Nakamura
Founder of Semelar Beach Village and head of the operating company, PT Lombok Next Partner.
Coming back to Lombok
Hiroki Nakamura first visited Lombok in 2013 and has kept coming back ever since. It began with the island’s nature and the warmth of the Sasak people.
Today he is building a village in Sekotong, southwest Lombok, together with the Sasak people who were born and raised there. The facilities are run by a local team, and decisions are made together with the village.
What he values
Not creating a tourist resort, not encouraging people to move here, but finding a way to keep staying connected with this village: you come as a traveller, come again, and in time you have a place in the village. That is where the project started.
Progress is reported as it is, what is going well and what is not, and what lasts for generations comes before short-term returns. These principles are set out on Our story.
