As of August 2026, based on official sources
Try to find a “good place to stay” on Lombok and you’ll quickly hit a wall. The layer of high-end hotels and villas isn’t as deep as Bali’s, so it’s hard to know what you actually get at each price point. In this article we split Lombok accommodation into four price tiers by nightly rate and lay out, based only on what we could confirm on each property’s official website and Booking.com’s city pages, what actually comes with each tier — transport, breakfast, pool setup, and number of on-site restaurants.
One fact we want to flag up front: the “average price” shown on booking sites and the actual price for near-term dates can differ by 2 to 4 times (checked August 14, 2026; more below). This is where most people trip up when trying to narrow down hotels by price band.
What this article covers
- ✓Four price tiers (roughly US$8–240 a night) and how transport, breakfast, pools, and restaurants change at each level
- ✓The budgeting trap where “average price” and near-term real prices differ by 2 to 4 times
- ✓How the types of hotels available differ between Senggigi, Kuta/Mandalika, the Gili Islands, and Sekotong
- ✓How to narrow down by purpose — family travel, honeymoon, surfing, long stays, or seeking quiet — and what you give up in each case
Where this article fits — versus our area guide and resort comparison
Most articles you’ll find searching “Lombok luxury hotels” are “top 10” lists of named properties. They tell you which hotels look good, but not whether your budget can actually reach that hotel, or what you’d give up by dropping one tier if it can’t. This article fills that gap.
In short
Decide your price tier before you decide on an area. Once you cross US$70 a night, you typically get two or more on-site restaurants, and “not needing to leave the property” becomes realistic. That’s the single biggest step-change in choosing where to stay on Lombok.
Our existing Lombok hotel and villa guide covers how to choose by area, and our comparison of Lombok’s major resort hotels compares specific, often-searched-for properties. This article takes a different angle from either: it focuses purely on the price axis — what you get for what you spend. For the island’s broader climate, safety, and area basics, see our complete guide to Lombok.
Lombok accommodation by price — a four-tier cheat sheet
The figures below are rough guides based on average prices and listed price ranges by star class, checked on Booking.com’s city pages (Kuta Lombok, Senggigi, and Gili Trawangan) on August 14, 2026.
← This table scrolls horizontally
| Tier | Rough nightly rate (2 people, 1 room) | Actual figures we found |
|---|---|---|
| Guesthouse / homestay tier | About US$8–25 | Kuta Lombok’s 1–2 star listings start from US$8–24.49 |
| Mid-range hotel tier (3-star class) | About US$25–70 | 3-star average: Senggigi US$25 / Gili Trawangan US$49 / Kuta US$35–70 |
| High-end resort tier (4-star class) | About US$70–120 | 4-star average: Senggigi US$81 / Gili Trawangan US$107 / Kuta US$70–120+ |
| Top-tier / villa tier (5-star, private pool) | About US$120–240 | 5-star average: Senggigi US$144 / Kuta’s upper band around US$237 |
*As displayed on Booking.com’s city pages (checked August 14, 2026). A rough guide centered on 2 people / 1 room, room only, and varies by search date, season, and room type. Always check the latest price before booking.
One thing to watch out for: don’t take this “average price” as your budget as is. On the same pages, the price for near-term dates (tonight, this weekend) ran at 2 to 4 times the average. Gili Trawangan’s 4-star tier averaged US$107, but ran US$195 this weekend and US$270 tonight; the 5-star tier averaged US$83 but hit US$398 tonight. Senggigi’s 5-star tier averaged US$144 but ran US$324 this weekend (all checked August 14, 2026).
POINT
The average price assumes “plenty of rooms available, filling from the cheapest up.” When budgeting, don’t use the average — look at the real price for the actual dates you want. Conversely, if your dates are flexible, you may well be able to reach one tier higher.
So what actually changes as the price tier rises? Here’s what we could confirm on official websites, laid out as a diagram.
Diagram: Four price tiers and roughly what comes with each
*Nightly rates from Booking.com’s city pages (checked August 14, 2026); facilities column based on each property’s official website (checked August 2026). Individual properties may be exceptions.
Let’s look at what’s actually inside the high-end resort tier, based on facts confirmed on official websites. Novotel Lombok Resort & Villas lists a kids’ club for ages 3–12 (9:00–18:00, requiring parental supervision). Sheraton Senggigi Beach Resort has four on-site restaurants, a kids’ pool with a water slide, and publishes its airport shuttle rate as Rp431,000 one way / Rp862,000 round trip (the airport is about 50km away). Its breakfast and Wi-Fi are listed as “free for Marriott Bonvoy members” — a conditional benefit. Holiday Resort Lombok includes a daily buffet breakfast and free Wi-Fi in every room, with standard rooms at 32–35m². Katamaran Resort has 3 on-site restaurants plus private-pool villas, and Pullman Lombok Merujani Mandalika Beach Resort has 257 rooms with 2 restaurants and 2 bars. All of this is based on what we found on each official website in August 2026.
The Oberoi Beach Resort, Lombok (Medana Beach, in the northwest around Tanjung), on the other hand, states clearly on its official site that it’s “66km from the airport, a 1 hour 45 minute drive.” It has 4 on-site restaurants and bars, and several private-pool villa types, but it’s a clear example of how a higher price tier doesn’t buy you proximity to the airport. You could call it the trade-off for a location about a 15-minute boat ride from the Gili Islands.
“What’s available” changes by area
Even within the same budget, your options change depending on which area you choose. The Booking.com figures above illustrate this well: the 3-star average is US$25 in Senggigi versus US$49 on Gili Trawangan. The same “3-star” costs nearly double on the Gili Islands (checked August 14, 2026) — because it’s an island with no vehicle access, where everything, materials included, has to come in by boat.
Diagram: What’s available, by area (simplified)
Senggigi sits on the island’s west coast, close to the provincial capital Mataram, and is where high-end resorts like Sheraton, Holiday Resort, and Katamaran are most concentrated (per each company’s official-site location info, checked August 2026). Kuta Lombok/Mandalika falls within the Mandalika Special Economic Zone developed by ITDC, an Indonesian government tourism-development company (established as a tourism economic zone under Government Regulation No. 52 of 2014, covering 1,175 hectares), and is home to newer high-end resorts like Novotel and Pullman (per ITDC’s official website, checked August 2026). The Gili Islands, with no vehicle access, rely mainly on small to mid-size resorts of a few dozen rooms. And Sekotong, where our base is, has seen almost no large-scale resort development, and simply has far fewer places to stay (see our complete guide to Sekotong).
← This table scrolls horizontally
| Property | Area | Facts confirmed on official sites (August 2026) |
|---|---|---|
| Novotel Lombok Resort & Villas | Kuta / Mandalika | Kids’ club ages 3–12, 9:00–18:00 (parental supervision required); pool villas available |
| Pullman Lombok Merujani Mandalika Beach Resort | Kuta / Mandalika | 257 rooms, many with a private pool, 2 restaurants, 2 bars |
| Sheraton Senggigi Beach Resort | Senggigi | 4 on-site restaurants, kids’ pool + water slide, airport shuttle (~50km) Rp431,000 one way / Rp862,000 round trip |
| Holiday Resort Lombok | Senggigi | Daily buffet breakfast and free Wi-Fi in every room, standard rooms 32–35m² |
| Katamaran Resort | Senggigi (Mangsit) | Private-pool villas, infinity-pool suites, 3 on-site restaurants |
| The Oberoi Beach Resort, Lombok | Medana Beach (Tanjung, northwest) | 66km / 1hr 45min from the airport, ~15 min by boat to the Gili Islands, private-pool villas, 4 on-site venues |
*This table omits pricing since none of these companies publish a fixed nightly rate on their official sites. Check each company’s official site for the latest prices and conditions.
🏝️ A note from Sekotong
Sekotong doesn’t have any large resorts like the ones in the table above. There are very few restaurants open in the evening, and our own guests generally eat dinner at their accommodation. It’s quiet as a result, and the water is rarely crowded. If “having options outside your hotel” matters to you, Senggigi or Kuta will suit you better. (As of August 2026, from our local team.)
Choosing by purpose — narrowing down across 5 traveler types
Let’s translate the price tiers and areas above into purpose-based recommendations. We only name properties where we could confirm the relevant condition on their official website.
- Traveling with kids: high-end resort tier (US$70+) / Kuta-Mandalika or Senggigi. Novotel is the one we could officially confirm has a kids’ club (ages 3–12), and Sheraton Senggigi has a kids’ pool plus water slide. Choosing a tier with 2+ on-site restaurants makes mealtimes with children much easier
- Honeymoon or anniversary: top-tier / villa tier (US$120+) / private pool. Katamaran, Oberoi, and Pullman all have room types with private pools. See also our Lombok honeymoon guide
- Surfing: mid- to high-end resort tier / Kuta-Mandalika is close to the only real choice. Traveling from Senggigi or Tanjung to the surf areas means crossing the island (see our Lombok surfing guide)
- Long stays: guesthouse to mid-range hotel tier (US$8–70). Senggigi’s 3-star tier has the lowest average price (US$25), and weekly or monthly negotiated rates are common locally
- Prioritizing quiet: either a self-contained top-tier villa, or an area with less large-scale development, like Sekotong. Bear in mind the latter also means fewer options for both accommodation and evening dining

Five things to check for a family stay
Higher price tiers generally bring more facilities for families, but there are some things you can’t judge from official-website information alone. Here are five points worth confirming directly with the property before you book.
5 things to confirm before booking a family stay
- The kids’ club’s age limit and hours (Novotel is ages 3–12, 9:00–18:00, requiring parental supervision — it’s not a drop-off childcare service)
- Whether cribs/cots are available and how many (many official sites don’t list this — worth asking directly)
- Travel time from the airport and shuttle cost (Sheraton: ~50km, Rp431,000 one way; Oberoi: 66km, 1hr 45min)
- Distance to medical facilities (general hospitals are concentrated around Mataram, the provincial capital)
- Number of on-site restaurants (at a remote property, all your meals during the stay effectively come from the hotel’s own menu)
For medical facilities and preparing for the unexpected, see our Lombok hospitals, healthcare, and travel insurance guide. If you’re traveling with young children, we’d recommend reading that one before you settle on where to stay.
Being upfront — what you give up with a Lombok luxury hotel
Listing only the good points wouldn’t be useful, so here’s what you actually give up choosing this price tier.
Note
- The pool of options is thin: only about 6 major properties fall into the high-end tier covered in this article. If your dates can’t move, it’s entirely normal to find your preferred tier fully booked and have to drop one level.
- The more remote the property, the more meals become hotel-only: somewhere like Oberoi, 1 hour 45 minutes from the airport, eating out is effectively off the table. Even with 4 on-site restaurants, that can get repetitive on a longer stay.
- Booking last-minute is expensive: as noted above, near-term prices ran 2 to 4 times the average. “Find something cheap once you’re there” isn’t a strategy that works well in Lombok’s luxury tier.
- Power and water outages happen: this isn’t unusual in Indonesia’s regional areas. Whether a property has backup power often isn’t stated on its official site, so ask directly before booking if it matters to you.
None of this means Lombok is inferior to Bali. It’s quieter than Bali, and generally cheaper at the same star class — and that same fact is also the source of its shorter list of options and greater travel distances. That’s exactly why narrowing down by both price tier and area is the surest way to avoid a mismatch.
Frequently asked questions
Q. How much budget should I set aside?
If you want a high-end resort, start from US$70–120 a night; for a private-pool villa, US$120–240. But these are average prices — near-term dates or peak season can run 2 to 4 times higher. The structure rewards flexibility: locking in your dates first tends to cost more, so if you can decide on a hotel and work backward to your dates, you’ll usually pay less (checked on Booking.com, August 14, 2026).
Q. Are Lombok’s luxury hotels cheaper than Bali’s?
It depends on the property and season, but Lombok tends to be more affordable at the same star class. That said, with fewer options, it’s less a case of “lots to compare cheaply” and more “a handful of affordable properties” — worth keeping in mind.
Q. Where’s best for a family with kids?
The properties where we could officially confirm kid-friendly facilities are Novotel Lombok Resort & Villas (kids’ club, ages 3–12, 9:00–18:00, parental supervision required) and Sheraton Senggigi Beach Resort (kids’ pool plus water slide), as of August 2026. For specifics like cribs, contact the property directly before booking.
Q. Why are Gili Islands hotels more expensive?
The 3-star average was US$25 in Senggigi versus US$49 on Gili Trawangan (checked on Booking.com, August 14, 2026). With no vehicle access, both goods and people have to travel by boat, which raises costs even for the same level of facilities. See our complete Gili Islands guide for more.

In summary — decide your price tier, then choose your area
Starting from hotel names or reviews tends to make choosing a Lombok stay more confusing, not less. Decide first how much you can spend per night, understand what that gets you (transport, breakfast, pool, on-site restaurants), and only then narrow down by area. That order lets you settle the single biggest decision — whether to cross the US$70 threshold — right at the start. And when you budget, use the real price for the dates you actually want, not the displayed average.
In contrast to the areas where large resorts cluster, our base in Sekotong is a quiet area that’s seen almost no large-scale development. In exchange for fewer choices in accommodation and evening dining, you get an uncrowded sea and a pace of life close to how locals actually live. Which one suits you depends on what you’re after — we hope this gives you one more point of comparison.
