As of August 2026, based on official sources
If you searched “Starbucks Lombok,” you probably just want a one-word answer: does it exist or not? Here it is up front. Yes, there is Starbucks on Lombok. As of August 2026 there are three locations you can confirm: a shopping mall in the provincial capital Mataram, the domestic departures area of Lombok International Airport, and a “world-first bamboo-built Starbucks” in Kuta-Mandalika in the south.
This article maps out where those three stores are, how late they’re open, and roughly what a cup costs — then covers what to do in areas that don’t have a Starbucks nearby. It’s written by Semelar Beach Village, which runs a beach villa in Sekotong on Lombok’s southwest coast. Sekotong is an area with zero chain cafes on the whole map, so “what do you do when there isn’t one” is something we think about daily.
What this article covers
- ✓Where Lombok’s three Starbucks stores are, their hours, and how to use each one
- ✓Whether the airport store is before or after security (can you use it seeing someone off, or on arrival?)
- ✓Prices and Wi-Fi/power at Starbucks, local chains, hotel cafes, and warung
- ✓How long it actually takes to reach a Starbucks from where you’re staying (about 1.5 hours by car from Sekotong)
Short answer: yes, Starbucks exists on Lombok, at 3 locations
Short answer
Lombok’s three Starbucks are: ① Lombok Epicentrum Mall in Mataram, ② Lombok International Airport (domestic departures area), and ③ Kuta-Mandalika (the world-first bamboo-built store), as of August 2026. Pick Mataram for a break while exploring the city, the airport before boarding a flight, and the bamboo store in Kuta-Mandalika if it’s worth a special trip.
Starbucks’ Indonesian operator (PT Sari Coffee Indonesia) runs more than 500 stores across 59 cities nationwide as of the end of 2023, according to its official “Starbucks in Indonesia” page. Lombok is one of those 59 cities, and its three stores are spread across three very different roles: Mataram, the island’s population and tourism hub; Lombok International Airport, the island’s gateway; and Kuta-Mandalika, a special tourism zone being developed by the government. There are no branches in the Gili Islands, Senggigi, or Sekotong.
As of August 2026. Hours are subject to change.
Here’s a table on the three stores with addresses and sources. Lombok is a large island — several hours by car north-south and east-west — so being “on the island” and being “reachable from where you’re staying” are two very different things. Decide on your base area first, then read on.

| Store | Location / address | Approx. hours | Source |
|---|---|---|---|
| Lombok Epicentrum Mall | Jl. Sriwijaya No.333, Mataram City (inside the mall) | Daily 10:00-22:00 (WITA), following mall hours | Listed as a tenant on the Indonesian Ministry of Tourism’s official site indonesia.travel, on its mall page |
| Lombok International Airport | Zainuddin Abdul Madjid International Airport, domestic departures boarding area (past security) | Follows domestic flight operating hours | Listed as Lombok (Zainuddin Abdul Madjid), Domestic Departure, on BCA (Bank Central Asia)’s official promo page listing participating airport stores |
| Kuta-Mandalika | Jl. Mawun, Sengkol, Kec. Pujut, Kab. Lombok Tengah 83573 | Not officially published. Check a map app before visiting | April 2025 opening press release, and official posts from Bamboo Lab Architect, who designed and built it |

Which of the 3 stores should you go to?
① Mataram Epicentrum Mall — the go-to when you need AC and power
If you want to get some work done, cool off, or kill time, this is your first pick for practical reasons. Lombok Epicentrum Mall, on Jl. Sriwijaya in Mataram, is one of the island’s largest shopping malls, open daily 10:00-22:00 WITA (Indonesia Central Time). According to the Ministry of Tourism’s official site, it’s about 10-15 minutes by car from central Mataram, and about 30km — roughly 40 minutes by car — from Lombok International Airport. Because it’s inside a mall, AC, power outlets, restrooms, money exchange, and SIM card counters are all in the same building, so you can knock out several errands at once, not just “get coffee.”
The flip side is that you only get this convenience by making the trip to Mataram. From Senggigi it’s about 30 minutes by car, but if you’re staying in the south or southwest of the island, a single cup of coffee can mean 2-3 hours of driving round trip. For more on the feel of the Mataram/Senggigi area, see our Senggigi & Mataram area guide.
② Lombok International Airport — only past security
This is the point people most often get wrong. The airport’s Starbucks is in the domestic departures boarding area — meaning it’s only accessible after you’ve checked in and passed through security. BCA (Bank Central Asia)’s official list of participating airport Starbucks stores lists Lombok (Zainuddin Abdul Madjid) under “Domestic Departure / Boarding Area.” So if you’re just dropping someone off, picking someone up, or have just landed, you can’t use it.
Heads up
Lombok International Airport has few direct international flights, so most travelers arrive via a connecting domestic flight from Jakarta, Denpasar (Bali), or another Indonesian city. In practice, that makes this store one you might catch before a connecting flight home — don’t count on it if your connection time is short (as of August 2026).
For more on the airport’s terminal layout and getting around after you land, see our Lombok International Airport guide.
③ Kuta-Mandalika — the world’s first bamboo-built Starbucks
Of the three stores, this is the only one we’d call genuinely worth a special trip. Opened in April 2025 in the Mandalika Special Economic Zone (KEK Mandalika) in southern Lombok, it’s the world’s first Starbucks built with bamboo as its primary structural material, featuring soaring bamboo arches that reach the ceiling and large open sides. It was designed and built by Bamboo Lab Architect, an Indonesian architecture firm led by a Japanese principal. The address is Jl. Mawun, Sengkol, Kec. Pujut, Kabupaten Lombok Tengah 83573, right in the heart of Kuta Lombok, surrounded by hotels and restaurants.
It’s about 20km — roughly 30 minutes by car — from Lombok International Airport to Kuta-Mandalika (as of August 2026, based on map apps). If your itinerary has you flying in and heading straight south to stay in Kuta, this fits easily. It’s also close to Mawun Beach and Kuta’s surf spots, so it works as a rest stop after time in the water too. Hours aren’t officially published, so check a map app for the day’s status before you go. For more on getting around Kuta-Mandalika, see our complete Kuta Lombok / Mandalika guide.
POINT
For anyone researching “does Lombok have Starbucks,” the real news isn’t whether the chain exists — it’s that this bamboo store exists nowhere else in the world. It’s worth the trip for the photos alone, and it’s been covered by architecture and travel media internationally.
Alternatives to Starbucks, and what a cup costs
Only having three stores means Starbucks simply isn’t an option in most of the island. What you’ll actually use instead falls into three categories: ① Indonesian domestic coffee chains, ② the cafe at wherever you’re staying, and ③ local warung (small eateries) or beach cafes. The best-known domestic chain is Excelso, which operates over 110 stores in more than 30 cities nationwide according to its official site. That said, none of these chains publish a Lombok-specific store list, so the exact number of branches on the island can’t be confirmed from official sources. A realistic approach is: pop in if you happen to see one in a Mataram mall.
US$1 is used here at roughly Rp17,800 (September 2026 reference rate).
Starbucks
Rp45,000-55,000
about US$2.53-3.09 / cup
Domestic chain
around Rp20,000
about US$1.12 / cup
Warung coffee
Rp5,000-10,000
about US$0.28-0.56 / cup
Realistic averages our local team confirmed around Sekotong and Mataram as of August 2026. Hotel/resort cafes tend to run Rp35,000-60,000 (about US$1.97-3.37), with a wide range depending on the property’s grade.
That price gap is really a gap in what you’re buying. At Starbucks, what you’re paying for is less the coffee itself than AC, reliable Wi-Fi, power, a clean bathroom, and the unspoken permission to stay a while. A warung’s kopi tubruk doesn’t come with any of that, but for a tenth of the price, it comes with a slice of everyday local life. Neither is the “right” choice — it depends on what you want to do that day.
If you want one single rule of thumb, it’s “do you need power and Wi-Fi or not?” If yes, go for your hotel’s cafe or Starbucks in Mataram; if not, you’re free to choose on price and atmosphere. On Lombok, “how you picked your accommodation” tends to matter more for your work setup than “finding a cafe” does.
Distance and time to a cafe changes by area
Lombok is roughly 80km east-west and 70km north-south, and with mountains and winding roads, map distance and travel time don’t line up neatly. Mataram and Senggigi have plenty of options; the airport area and Kuta-Mandalika sit in the middle; and Sekotong and East Lombok are, in practice, a choice between your hotel or a warung.
← This table scrolls horizontally
| Where you stay | To nearest Starbucks | Realistic options |
|---|---|---|
| Mataram | In town, 10 min walk to short drive (Epicentrum Mall) | Starbucks / domestic chains / hotel cafes. The most convenient area on the island |
| Senggigi | About 30 min by car (heading south to Mataram) | Mainly hotel cafes and cafes along the beach |
| Kuta-Mandalika | 10 min walk to short drive (bamboo store is in the district) | Starbucks / surf-scene cafes. Many places close early at night |
| Sekotong (southwest) | About 1.5 hours / ~50km by car (to Mataram) | In practice, your hotel’s cafe or a village warung |
| East Lombok / Sembalun | 2+ hours by car | Your lodging and warung — though this is also coffee-growing country |
The ~30km / ~40-minute figure from the airport to Epicentrum Mall is from the Ministry of Tourism’s official site. Other travel times are estimates our local team put together as of August 2026 based on actual driving, and will vary with traffic and roadwork.
The travel times in that table come from our own day-to-day driving experience, not published data. We want to be upfront that there’s an asymmetry in our sources here: information about Indonesia more broadly (nationwide store counts, the airport store’s role) is quoted from public/official sources, while travel times and prices within Lombok are first-hand information from us as local operators. For Sekotong’s full picture, see our complete Sekotong guide; for the island’s geography overall, see our complete Lombok Island guide.
🏝️ A note from our team in Sekotong
The nearest Starbucks to our property — the Epicentrum Mall store in Mataram — is about an hour and a half by car. We drop by once or twice a month while running errands, but we’ve never once brought a guest there during their stay. Instead, we serve locally grown Lombok beans as kopi tubruk every morning. (As of August 2026, from our local team.)
The honest downsides: Wi-Fi, power, and hours
Now for the inconveniences. First, Wi-Fi: Starbucks and hotel lounges do offer Wi-Fi, but the speed isn’t as stable as in Japanese or Western cities. It gets especially unreliable during the rainy season (roughly November-March), for both connections and power, so relying on local Wi-Fi alone for large file transfers or long video calls is risky. For a backup connection via SIM/eSIM, see our Lombok SIM & Wi-Fi guide, from a workation perspective.
Heads up
- The airport store is past security: you can’t use it to see someone off, meet an arrival, or right after you land — it’s for the domestic departures area only.
- Power cuts happen: brief outages occur outside city centers. Hotels cover this with backup generators, but warung and beach cafes often have no backup power, or unreliable outlets.
- Hours can be unpredictable: local places don’t always keep the hours they’ve posted. Even the Kuta-Mandalika store doesn’t publish official hours, so check a map app the day of.
- Payment methods vary: Starbucks and domestic chains take cards and QRIS (Indonesia’s unified QR payment), but warung are cash-only as a rule.
For how to handle cash, exchange, and QRIS, see our Lombok money and payments guide. With all that said, here’s an honest comparison against other destinations.
- ✅ Want chain cafes every day, with plenty of choice → Bali wins. Even Starbucks’ own site places its 500th-store milestone location in Bali, and the density of stores around Denpasar isn’t comparable to Lombok’s three.
- ✅ Want a Starbucks break during an international layover → Jakarta (Soekarno-Hatta) wins. BCA’s official list shows that airport covering multiple domestic and international terminals, versus Lombok’s single domestic departures area.
- ✅ Want to see Starbucks as architecture, or drink it by a quiet beach → Lombok wins. The bamboo store exists nowhere else in the world, and it’s a few minutes’ drive from the beach.
Lombok is also a coffee-growing island: kopi tubruk explained
Set the chains aside, and Lombok isn’t a “no coffee” island at all — it’s actually a growing region. Sembalun, on the island’s east side at the foot of Mount Rinjani, grows Arabica coffee, and according to a May 2024 article from Indonesia’s state news agency ANTARA’s Mataram bureau, farmers in the three villages of Sembalun Bumbung, Sembalun Lawang, and Sajang are working on production and processing, with a substantive review underway from Indonesia’s Directorate General of Intellectual Property (DGIP) for Geographical Indication (Indikasi Geografis) status. We want to be precise that this is a pending review, not a completed registration.
What you’ll actually run into most often locally is “kopi tubruk” — no filter, no machine. Finely ground coffee gets hot water poured straight over it, you wait 2-3 minutes for the grounds to settle, then drink from the top. It costs Rp5,000-10,000 (about US$0.28-0.56) a cup. It won’t have the consistency of an espresso machine, but the wait itself is part of Lombok’s pace of time. In an area where the nearest Starbucks is an hour and a half away, switching to this instead genuinely makes the trip more enjoyable.
In short: now that you know the 3 stores, here’s how to plan around them
Yes, there is Starbucks on Lombok. There’s the Epicentrum Mall store in Mataram (daily 10:00-22:00), the store in Lombok International Airport’s domestic departures area (past security), and the bamboo-built store in Kuta-Mandalika — three in total. Choose Mataram if you want to work or cool off, Kuta-Mandalika if you want the memory of a unique trip, and if you’re staying anywhere else, plan from the start as if “there’s no Starbucks” and build around your hotel’s cafe and local warung — that’s the realistic conclusion as of August 2026. What you’re paying US$2.53-3.09 a cup for is AC, power, and time, and on days you don’t need those, we honestly find a $0.28 kopi tubruk more satisfying.
FAQ
Q. How many Starbucks are there on Lombok?
As of August 2026, there are three confirmed: the Lombok Epicentrum Mall store in Mataram, the Lombok International Airport (domestic departures area) store, and the Kuta-Mandalika store. There are none in the Gili Islands, Senggigi, or Sekotong.
Q. Can I go into the airport Starbucks right after I land?
No. It’s in the domestic departures boarding area (past security), so people who’ve just arrived or are seeing someone off can’t use it. Think of it as usable before boarding, only.
Q. Where is the bamboo Starbucks?
It’s in Kuta-Mandalika in the south of the island (Jl. Mawun, Sengkol, Kec. Pujut, Kab. Lombok Tengah). It opened in April 2025 as the world’s first Starbucks built with bamboo as its main structural material, designed and built by Bamboo Lab Architect. It’s about a 30-minute drive from the airport.
Q. If I’m staying in Sekotong, what should I do for cafes?
The nearest Starbucks is in Mataram, about 1.5 hours away, so in practice you’re choosing between your accommodation’s cafe/restaurant or kopi tubruk at a village warung (around $0.28-0.56 a cup, cash only). If you need to get work done, choosing a place to stay with reliable Wi-Fi and power is effectively your cafe decision.
Q. Can I pay by card?
Starbucks, domestic chains, and mall stores take cards and QRIS. Warung and beach cafes are cash-only as a rule, so carry small bills.
